It's a photo finish for the win! Swiss Skydiver captures the 2020 Preakness.

C/O Pimlico Raceway It was a fitting finish to a surprising 2020 Triple Crown season. The People's Party, also known as the 145th running of the Preakness Stakes came to Baltimore, Maryland, this year without all the people. And in a year that has brought us so many twists and turns throughout, this race continued to add to the story. For just the 6th time in history, a Filly (female horse) has won the race. Swiss Skydiver, owned by Peter Callahan and trained by Ken McPeek, captured trophy in a slow and methodical edging at the wire of Kentucky Derby winner Authentic. The victory is the first by a Filly since Rachel Alexandra defeated Mine That Bird in the 2009 race. The time of 1:53.28 from the 4 post was enough for jockey Robby Albarado to nip Authentic and 3rd place Jesus' Team. The win by Swiss Skydiver also denied Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert his 8th Preakness Stakes victory. The race had an extra dynamic this year as on the line for the winner was an automatic bid to the Longines Breeders Cup Classic, the $6 million dollar stakes race that will take place at Keenland in Kentucky on Nov. 6th & 7th. For the rest of the owners, trainers and jockeys who won't saddle up in the Breeders, they will turn their eyes back to the stables and farms and begin preparations for who will be the next batch of 3 year old's we'll see at Churchill Downs, hopefully this time on the first Saturday in May.
