The New England Revolution will head into Group C, Matchday 9 at the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, FL on the heels of a dominant 1-0 victory over the Montreal Impact at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Their second match of the tournament, and fourth overall in 2020 season play will pit them against a familiar foe in DC United. Two of the founding teams of MLS, in the Revs and United, they have met each other a total of 86 times in all competitions, though this will be unique in that it will become the first time they have met at a neutral venue.

New England is looking to notch its first victory since June of 2018 versus their foes from the Nation’s Capital. It was also their only win in the last 11 overall meetings which dates back to the 2015 season. Gustavo Bou, who pocketed the Match Winner in the 56th minute the other night vs Montreal will look to once again drive a rejuvenated front line which features a rising Carles Gil along with support from Adam Buksa and a now secured Teal Bunbury.

Bunbury, who was under contract with the Revs for the 2020 season and not in concern of going anywhere else in the MLS, has now been locked into place for an undisclosed “several more seasons”.

The US Men’s national player is now featuring in his seventh season since coming over from Sporting Kansas City in 2014. He has capped a total of 272 regular season games with 185 starts in his career.

Bunbury’s career has seen him slot 54 goals and 27 assists, featuring in 12 MLS Cup Playoff matches including being the prime player of the Revs run to the Cup Final in 2014.

Revolution sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said in a team statement: “I’ve had the pleasure to work with Teal Bunbury over the past year, and have found him to be an invaluable part of our team and organization. Teal’s contributions on the field speak for themselves and he has been an important part of our team’s re-building efforts. Off the field, Teal represents the Revolution in a first-class manner and we are honored that he will remain as a member of the Revolution.”

He will look for goal number 36 in a Revs jersey on Friday night at 8pm ET on ESPN.
